Mr Wayne Spittle, General Manager for Philips Medical Systems Asia Pacific, says that Philips Electronics plans to foray into manufacturing medical equipment in India through a joint venture with a local company.
No targets have been named yet, but when it happens it would make affordable and low-end imaging equipment such as personal healthcare monitors and X-ray machines for the regional and domestic markets, said Mr Spittle during the company’s interaction with global media in Chicago.
